Sometimes you desire more than a concrete repair. Sometimes you desire more than a mere change in texture and color. Sometimes you would like your concrete floor to look glossy, reflecting light like a mirror. Nevada Custom Coatings can definitely stain and protect your concrete floor, but we can go even further and give it a glass-like shine with concrete polishing.
The Polished Concrete Process
Here are the usual steps involved when polishing concrete:
- Grinding – A strong grind of the existing concrete eliminates abnormalities and insures the floor sealers adhere permanently. We use superior industrial vacuum equipment to remove the dust produced during the grind.
- Leveling – Areas with faults, deterioration, or cracks are refloated to the same level as the rest of the floor. This way the polish is totally flat and solid.
- Staining – Your concrete floor is infused, not just coated, with a color stain of your choosing. Any specified patterns are also added at this step. Stains can be heavy, covering the concrete grain, or light, allowing patterns in the concrete to shine through like polished wood.
- Transparent protective layer – Floor sealers applied on top of the polished floor fill the pores and bring out the impressive gloss. These transparent sealers bond to the smoothed concrete with considerable strength, creating a floor that is very low maintenance. For environments where heavy traffic is normal, we apply a thicker coat of protective sealers to compensate.
Concrete polishing thus offers the ideal in decorative durability, for both homes and businesses, while simultaneously offering chemical and scratch resistance. This technique is easily the best for businesses wanting a beautiful, enduring, and low-maintenance floor surface in their business or industrial facility, or for homeowners wanting a fantastic floor that’s effortlessly maintained.
