When Strength is a Demand
When heavy traffic or extreme demands are common, the epoxy flooring needs a trowel grade application. It is the perfect system available for maximal toughness, creating a coating with twice the thickness of our usual business or residential epoxy process. Trowel grade is recommended for floors that handle a lot of weight (such as from heavy-duty forklifts), as well as where concrete contact with caustic or corrosive chemicals is common.
Trowel Grade Epoxy Requirements
With heavier coatings comes additional time for curing. There are also ideal temperatures for applying trowel grade epoxy coatings.
- Above 70 degrees Fahrenheit, each epoxy application will cure in 8-12 hours with a full 7 days recommended prior to beginning normal activities.
- Below 70 degrees Fahrenheit it takes additional time for successful curing.
- Below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, the thickness of a trowel grade epoxy coating really should not be attempted.
Given these requirements, this type of application is recommended in late spring, summer, or early fall.
